Challenge
To move the products and services of an exiting research and strategic planning firm to an online application. We needed to migrate tens of thousands or rows of raw industry data and calculations into online graphical and tabular reports, available as products form a website. Users needed to be able to securely create, purchase and store these various profiles online. The profiles themselves had to be completely interactive, allowing firms to benchmark their own financial data with other firms from their same industry or geographical area, or both. The administrative area of this tool had to be very robust, allowing for the creation of profit-sharing affiliate arrangements, user-management, accounting and content creation.

Solution
To address all of these needs, we created a site that is a combination of an ecommerce product-selling site and an in-depth source of information. The application was developed using an ASP front-end that connects to a large MS SQL Server 2000 database. We were able to implement numerous add-on components to enhance user experience, such as detail 3-D bar graphs and reports. We also made this site very scalable by creating a robust administrative area, allowing our client to manage everything from product prices and industry lists, to profit-sharing affiliate arrangements. We also addressed the need for high levels of security by using secure credit card processing, as well as password-protected profile access areas. To add even more security, we also added high-encryption technologies to many sensitive areas of the site, and provide a managed hosting solution.
